Managers need help

Having done over 150,000 exit interviews, its pretty clear that Managers will always play a significant role in Employee retention / attrition, whichever way you want to look at it.
I have personally met many Managers to understand the challenge and a lot of them are helpless since they are not equipped to handle difficult conversations. Several of them are home grown and while they have been promoted , Organisations haven’t really worked towards equipping them with the right kind of skills required to improve employee retention

Fundamentally no manager wants to be a Bad manager….

The challenge is more amongst Middle managers who are neither empowered to take decisions nor have been provided with any form of effective coaching and as a a result fail miserably when it comes to having crucial discussions with their team members
